Online Banking at public WiFi(school) danger ? If the bank is using https protocol?

I still wouldn't do online banking on a public wifi even if uses htps. Would you trust anybody who would say it's safe? Granting that somebody says it is, would you be brave enough to try it to find out if it really is safe?
