Who is the real Exel (anime)?

Ok so I was doing research on Yumiko Kobayashi and noticed something Wikipedia says she was Exel in EXEL SAGA when I thought for sure he role of Exel was played by the legendary Kotono Mitsuishi I need help also I would like to know how Yumiko even got put into exel help me!!!
